Our organically crafted Balsam Fir Absolute, also known as Fir Balsam Absolute, is dark greenish-brown colored, thick viscous liquid, extracted from the needles and small branches of the conifer Abies balsamea, native to most of eastern and central Canada and the northeastern United States. The absolute displays a rich, warm, green, resinous bouquet with a sweet, woody, delicate coumarinic undertone of excellent tenacity - exactly like the juicy-fresh smell of recently harvested young conifer trees.

The Balsam Fir is a native evergreen conifer well-adapted to the cold climates of the northern United States and Canada. Its symmetrical spire-like crown, shining dark green color and sweet, turpentine fragrance created by the abundant resin in its bark and needles have made it a favorite Christmas tree for hundreds of years. We source this absolute directly from Canada and the quality is outstanding, rich, full of depth, and far better than what is offered by other distillers.

REPORTED BENEFITS AND USES

When used in low dilution, Balsam Fir Absolute imparts a fresh, natural forest fragrance to a vast array of perfume compositions. In the eastern United States, Abies balsamea is the holiday season's tree of choice where, in days gone by, the sweetly-smelling needles were sewed into sachets and sold to weary city folk. The branches are also popular in holiday wreaths and other greenery. In the landscape, this fir is used as a specimen as well as part of a screen or windbreak.

The calming essence is beneficial for aromatherapy, meditation, spirituality and aphrodisiac. Balsam Fir Absolute is a wonderfully exotic addition to lotions, creams or body butters.
