Buchu is a small flowering shrub native to the South Africa where it grows in the Cape Region.
The plant's leaves have visible glands containing essential oils reminiscent of blackcurrant. Buchu leaves are collected while the plant is blooming. They are then dried before being processed. Our Buchu comes from South Africa, where the harvest takes place from April to June.
The scent is strong, mint and camphor-like, reminiscent of blackcurrant sulfur notes.
Yellow to yellowish brown semi-viscous liquid.
Buchu has long been used as an aromatic and medicinal plant. It has stimulant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and digestive properties. The leaves are considered to be a detoxifying agent that helps the body naturally remove excess water.
