Lavender is native to the Mediterranean region, and it also grows South tropical Africa and East of India. France is one of the main producers, along with Bulgaria, China and Russia. There are 28 species of Lavender; all grow in dry, sunny and rocky regions. The harvest takes place during the blooming period from the end of June to end of August. The strands are more fragrant when they are harvested just before the flowers bloom.
For thousand of years, Lavandula augustifolia has been used for its antiseptic, antibacterial, healing, sedative, antispasmodic, analgesic and dermatological properties. It is a sublime choice for promoting overall skin health and radiance. Lavender Oil's anti-inflammatory properties make it great for soothing and healing skin that's irritated or reddened from the sun, insect bites, or bacteria. Lavender is also known to have insect repellent properties and makes a great addition to DIY, all-natural insect repellent products.
With its mesmerising deep blue-green colour, Lavender Absolute is a perfumery must-have and a unanimous favorite of aromatherapists and perfumers alike. It can be blended into many formulas, and has been a part of fine fragrances for centuries. It can also be used as a modifier to help mask unpleasant aromas of oils that are used in perfumery formulas. Lavender Absolute is widely used in citrus-colognes, chypres, fougeres, new-mown hay bases, forest notes, etc.
